Yi Sun-sin: The Conqueror
벌(伐)
Synopsis
Yi Sun-sin is struck by an enemy bullet and collapses during the Battle of Noryang, but after many twists and hardships, he manages to survive, and at last the seven-year Imjin War comes to an end.
However, Seonjo of Joseon develops pathological jealousy and extreme insecurity toward Yi Sun-sin, who led the war to victory and rose as a hero of the people. In the end, Seonjo conspires with the key figures of the Westerners faction and secretly arrests Yi Sun-sin, framing him for treason and sentencing him to a brutal execution. Among Yi Sun-sin’s family, the men are either executed or exiled, while all the women are taken away as government slaves and meet tragic fates.
Eventually, Yi Sun-sin is secretly subjected to quartering execution inside the abandoned palace, and even his corpse is burned until nothing remains. Yet astonishingly, Yi Sun-sin unexpectedly regresses more than thirty years into the past, returning to his younger days.
From that day onward, Yi Sun-sin begins gradually carrying out a grand plan, not only stopping the Japanese invaders who ravaged Joseon and massacred its people, but also taking revenge on the future Seonjo who annihilated him and his family, while furthermore conquering Japan, the Jurchens, and even China. Will Yi Sun-sin ultimately succeed not only in the southern campaign, but in the northern campaign as well?
